[ It's just one of those things where saying anything out loud or having him realize it would make her feel kind of silly, so she's more than all right with him not realizing. She runs her hand instinctively over her forearm after he releases it, though, as if checking for damage. ] Awesome. Okay, now, what do you do if someone grabs you from behind?
[ Scrunching up her face at him. ] Wow, that is so totally helpful. You're amazing, I bet you could get out of any kidnapping. [ Rolling her neck. ] You know how to put a full nelson on someone?
[ Rolling her neck a moment before he does, and then she braces herself and starts talking, apparently casually totally at ease with this. ] This works on a weight leverage principle that should be pretty obvious to you. Just stay still for this one, okay?
So the point of the full nelson is immobilizing someone's upper body, which makes an elbow strike a little hard. But the most basic move is actually really similar to what you do for a chokehold. Lift the finger out and snap it, then hold the other hand on your neck as you turn so they can't remove it. [ Demonstrating. ] At that point you can either bend the elbow in and snap it or bend the arm itself in - a little further like this and it'll hurt quite a lot.
[ It's kind of fun, watching Tony literally (and by that I mean figuratively) absorb information. Mostly in that you actually can sort of watch him do it. ] Uh, yeah, it's barely going that far as it is, so I would imagine that would suck. When you say snap the elbow, do you mean like, dislocate the joint, or more like breaking one or two of the three bones that connect to form it right above their respective epiphyses?
Relax, I'm really good at knowing where the edge is between mildly uncomfortable and actually painful. [ And letting go of his arm with a shrug. ] Personally, I find breaking the bones is most effective, but that can be hard and dislocating a joint will generally work reasonably well.
Well, I meant more like, if you keep turning it and 'snap' the elbow, which one of those results would be more likely to happen? How do you even put a dislocated elbow back in line? There's not really anything to push on.
i just spent way too long poking and prodding at my elbow and i'm still making it up shhhh
I generally hit just above the elbow - if you have the position right - [ and holding her own arm and twisting it so she can indicate the spot ] and enough force behind it, that tends to crack the bone. If you go for the elbow itself, you're more likely to snap the joint.
I wouldn't know if you can put it back together, I'm generally not on that side of it.
It's generally easier to break things than fix them. Takes a special kind of sophisticated mind to fix things. [ is he talking about himself? what? i couldn't imagi-- yeah no he's totally talking about himself. ] So we're covering all the basic manhandling, right? What else do people grab?
Yeah, it does. [ He may be talking about himself but she's just going to apply that statement to herself too because she can. ] What don't they grab? What do you want to learn.
[ Well he was talking in general but the sophisticated part can be about them both. He wouldn't object to that. ] I wanna knowww... Hm. Can you show me - [ as his brain helpfully supplies 'something familiar about the dangers like me', which doesn't work, but whatever. ] What if they've got your hands tied up?
'do i know anything about this nope okay doesn't matter'
[ Super sophisticated brains, aw yeah. ] Well, that depends a lot on how many there are, what your hands are tied with, but mostly for that you're going to want to know how to kick things really hard. There's a couple things you can do if they grab you by your tied hands, too.
[ Hmmm. ] The small things, generally. For instance, how to break someone's nose in a way that is highly likely to kill them. The points in the arm that hurt like hell when you poke them. How to kick someone in the shin so that it doesn't hurt you but they feel it for weeks. [ Shrug. And asking her to pick based on what's saved her life wouldn't really work either, because she has a lot of things that have saved her life. ] The throws are the most fun, really.
see usually i wiki to hell and then have to make it sound like i made it up anyway
[ It's sad that no aspects of this conversation are ringing 'normal people don't say these things' alarm bells, for either of them. ] Yeah, the throws are a blast. Total ball there. Let's throw a ball. So, okay, hit me with another throw, then.
[ She moves aside, grabbing his wrist as it comes in and stepping inwards, transitioning into a throw but not quite following through so that she's holding him up suspended over the floor, legs planted solidly for support. ] Like that.
Woa-aahh, okay. [ This isn't like. Odd at all. He can't tell if he likes being just hoisted up like this or if he'd rather have been thrown. ] Yeah, okay. You're a lot stronger than you - well not that you don't look, but, yeah.
[ She lets him go a little ways above the floor after a moment, far enough that he gets the picture of how a smooth and uninterrupted throw would work but not that it will hurt at all, and grins down at him, a little amused. ] I actually put a lot of effort into that, so thanks.

making up things is just so much easier
it really is
'do i know anything about this nope okay doesn't matter'
although i exhaustively wiki half the time anyway
the worst is when i wiki it to hell and still have to make it up
see usually i wiki to hell and then have to make it sound like i made it up anyway
that sounds equally frustrating
