WEAPON
description of tony's sentient weapon evolution within exsilium, given in stages as it develops -----------------------
STAGE I.
Intuitive understanding of technology not of his own era or with origins on this planet specifically. The user is capable of understanding how to use familiar technology, or technology built upon familiar formats almost instantly, and within five or ten minutes can perform minor repairs depending on their complexity and overall departure from what is considered regular or native to their home environment.
STAGE II.
Understanding of technology deepens, resulting in less time required for more complicated machinery or software, &c., as well as the ability to cobble together new things from component parts that otherwise shouldn't be able to go together. Computer programming becomes easier as the computer itself seems to almost be working with the user to account for errors before the user is aware of them.
STAGE III.
Basic communication with machines and technology begins mentally. Initial control over anything that operates on electricity of some sort in tandem with the initial statement appears as some sort of telepathy with motorized or electronic items. This is rudimentary, and can overwhelm the user if there is too much nearby, as they will have a difficult time differentiating which items are sending which messages, even to the point of not discerning their own thoughts from "voices" of those speaking to them from said messages. In smaller scales, the power may be more regulated and controlled. This manipulation, once well honed, will work on anything that relies on any form of current, meaning purely mechanical things such as those that wind-up will not be able to be interfaced with, but something with gears and other such machinery that requires a battery to initiate movement can be.
STAGE IV.
Communication with multiple forms of technology is natural for the user, allowing for near instantaneous communication with computers and the like as long as the user is already familiar with the system. Adaptation to unfamiliar technology requires a small amount of time, but is again scaled with the level of separation from the familiar. An element of the pure electrical ability that will develop later on is evident, but only in the sense that the user may perceive differing signals and intercept them with a bit of concentration. The user no longer has to be in immediate contact with machines to fully manipulate them, and may, in extreme circumstances, pull current from the air to power something that otherwise would have none. This may only be done in cases of strong duress, and is reflexive, rather than intended. The user may still become overwhelmed with a lack of control, over-extension of their abilities, or the sheer overabundance of nearby active technology, but this is less frequent than the previous level.
STAGE V.
The user is capable of manipulating electricity in nearly all shapes and forms. Extant electrical items and electricity is the easiest to manipulate, requiring little effort to channel and form. With more effort, the user is capable of making use of whatever ambient electrical currents are in the air and shifting them as needed. Technology and its manipulation remains as previous, with mental communication between the user and various forms of technology being at will and reasonably well controlled as to the user's own boundaries and strengths. In short, all previous skills are retained and refined, with the addition of the conscious manipulation of ambient currents, waves, and other various forms of electricity.

HISTORY.
Currently, Tony has progressed more or less to the fourth stage of his ability.
They're rough dividers, rather than a strict progression of leveling, and the use of his weapon is largely dependent upon his personal at that moment to think and utilize it, much in the way that his natural affinity for machines and the like is at home. Given his natural ability, he didn't even register that this was his weapon until the stress of the bombings (Sep 2012) and the subsequent search and rescue and temporary move to the catacombs took place, kicking what was a slow progression up to an unignorable notch. Having little to no mental discipline for such things, he got help from Emma Frost with regard to mental shielding and attempting to mimic methods used by telepaths to control the mental interaction with the technology-laden world around him.
Aside from that particular instance, Tony's weapon hasn't particularly developed with any rapidity or to any specific hallmarks or points in time. Rather, it gradually progresses as he works on it and spends more time within Exsilium, as his relationships with different people come and go. There are periods where it lies stagnant in terms of growth, more or less - for some months he was becoming more and more self-destructive and depressed, during which his weapon did not evolve much at all - and others where it develops at a relatively steady pace. This is again in keeping with the idea that it is a mental-based ability, and like anything else one learns, they have to be in the right mindset and point of temperament to utilize it to its utmost potential.
